In such a situation, many questions and controversies kept coming up regarding the surrogate mother. Minister M. Subramaniam had recently constituted a three-member committee headed by the Joint Director of Health to look into the issue of surrogacy.

The report of the committee was released today. It has been told that it has been carried out according to the guidelines of artificial insemination technology and surrogacy. Notably, the government noted that the hospital treating the surrogate mother had not produced certain documents.

In this regard, a statement issued by the government said, “As per the guidelines, the medical documents given to the couple and the health of the surrogate mother should be kept properly in the hospital, but these documents were not there. Maintained properly in the hospital.”

It is also mentioned that a notice has been sent to the private hospital for not following the guidelines on why the artificial insemination center should not be temporarily closed.
