[Download 100%] – HC exempts actor Dhanush from appearing before Saidapet

The Madras High Court has exempted actor Dhanush from appearing before the Saidapet court for hearing the matter related to the smoking scenes in the film Ajwamula Pattadari.

Tamil Nadu Tobacco Production Company and actor Dhanush to take action against actor Dhanush starrer film Ajwamula Bhattadari’s scenes are set in violation of Prohibition and Regulation Act and warning text of Advertisement of Cigarettes and Tobacco Products. Actor Dhanush in the film appears on the screen when he is shown smoking scenes. A complaint was submitted by the People’s Organization for Control to the Tamil Nadu government in July 2014.

The Deputy Director of Public Health, who investigated the matter, filed a complaint against Aishwarya Rajinikanth and actor Dhanush in the Saidapet court. The Saidapet court had ordered both of them to appear for investigation.

In this case, the High Court heard the petition of Aishwarya Rajinikanth, which sought to quash the ongoing trial in Saidapet Court, stay the trial and exempt her from appearance.

In this case, actor Dhanush had also filed a petition in the High Court regarding similar demands. Dhanush’s lawyer Vijayan Subramaniam, who appeared before Justice Satheeshkumar for hearing the matter today, asked Saidapet to be exempted from appearing in the court.

Accepting this, the judge exempted actor Dhanush from appearing and adjourned the hearing to 10th.
