Since taking over as the Prime Minister in 2014, Prime Minister Modi has made it a habit to celebrate Diwali every year with Army personnel at the border. Accordingly, they celebrated Diwali this year at the Kargil border in the Union Territory of Ladakh. Prime Minister Modi, who went to Kargil this morning, interacted with the soldiers there and got to know their well being. Then he gave sweets to the soldiers with his own hands.

Afterwards the players enjoyed playing instruments and singing songs. Prime Minister Modi also participated in it. While the players enthusiastically sang Vande Mataram by AR Rahman, Prime Minister Modi clapped with the players and sang Vande Mataram with enthusiasm.

That’s why I looked for your lap..Hello Mother Earth. Happy Diwali to all,” he posted. Rahman composed the song Vande Mataram in Hindi and Tamil. Rahman tweeted Tamil lyrics for specific lines sung in Hindi by soldiers on the border.

Earlier addressing soldiers during Diwali celebrations, Prime Minister Modi said, “You all have been my family for many years. It is an honor to celebrate Diwali among you. Diwali means ending terrorism.
